Yesterday, I finally turned twenty-one. But honestly, I felt like this whole week has been my birthday(s). I've been receiving gifts and cards since Tuesday. My poor mom has been desperately trying to get me to save opening gifts and cards for my actual birthday, but I sneaked permissions from different gift givers so I could open them before Friday. It was totally worth it! It was wonderful receiving little happies throughout the week.
It all led up to my little party at the Pizza Joint in Aiken last night. So with delicious slice of White Pizza (like, three different cheeses with feta cheese as the first layer. It was divine.) and some good company, I had my first ever public alcoholic beverage. I started with an Irish Breakfast while I waited for my food and then had a Woodchuck cider with my pizza. I was gifted with pretty things from my friends at the party and and friends far away. It was a wonderful happy week. And I happily ended it playing my new Nancy Drew game, which I have yet to beat. Man, that game is hard! I've "died" five times already. Definitely intriguing and well done. Makes my brain hurt as much as school, but the Nancy Drew game is definitely more enjoyable.
I'm waiting for something inside of me to suddenly feel weird and shocked at turning a year older. But it hasn't yet. I have been so excited and happy since turning twenty-one, that I'm already looking forward to turning twenty-two. Although there's something scary and slightly unnerving about facing a new year of complete unknown events that may be good or bad, for a strange reason this year, I'm trying to look forward to it with much positivity. Maybe it's because after going through some tough stuff this last year, my faith in and dependency in God has grown and become more secure. Although I know there are some things in life that will shake me, right now, I feel really blessed. Even though there are some crazy things in my life, I really have nothing worth complaining about.
It's been crazy and busy, but It's been a good week. And even though it will continue to be busy into this next week, I'm excited! My little brother comes home on Monday!
Blessings~
